Laser Treatments for Spider and Varicose Veins available at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center in Houston

Leg and facial veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worst. Fortunately, with cosmetic laser treatment, you can make yourself look and feel a whole lot better with as little as only one or two visits.

Spider or varicose veins are usually red, blue or purple in color. They can be a result of sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, age or genetics. Varicose veins usually occur on the legs, while spider veins (technically known as telangiectasia) mostly occur around the nose, cheeks, and chin.

There are many treatments for varicose veins and spider veins in Houston. Here at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center, we offer laser treatments for varicose veins and spider veins.

In short, a cosmetic laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel will naturally disappear. To get more technical, we use the Elite laser system, where the laser energy is delivered via a device with a cooling tip, which helps provide additional comfort and safety during the procedure. The laser beam goes right through the skin and hits the targeted blood vessel, making it collapse and seal, and dissolve within the body. A side benefit is that the laser helps stimulate the production of collagen, which can result in smoother looking and feeling skin.

Like we said above, there typically only one or two treatments required and results can be seen in three to four weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. The treatment causes only minimal discomfort, and any redness or swelling should be gone within a day. After that the patient can resume normal activities immediately.

After the treatment, patients need to avoid the sun, using shade and wearing sunscreen whenever possible. For varicose veins, our patients also might have to wear supportive hose for some time to ensure proper healing.

The one caveat is that although we can use the Elite laser for permanent removal of our Houston patients' varicose and spider veins, we cannot prevent new ones from forming.

Although this treatment works well for many kinds of spider veins and varicose veins, it is still important to consult an experienced physician to make sure it is right for you. Visit www.marshallbackandbody.com or call 713-522-1726 for more information.

Laser Hair Removal in Houston

Laser hair removal has been one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in America for a long time, and is an affordable and low-risk option for patients who want to remove hair.

Over 700,000 women received laser hair removal treatments in 2009, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Women commonly have areas such as their legs, bikini area, underarms, upper lip and chin treated.

There were over 150,000 male laser hair removal patients in 2009, who mainly opted for treatments for their back and chest areas, as well as the scalp and beard.

Laser hair removal is a solution for permanent hair reduction that works on any area of the body where there is unwanted hair. Many patients choose it to permanently remove embarrassing growths of hair, or to simply save time on common shaving areas like their beard or legs.
Since its inception in the late 1980s, laser hair removal has become less painful and can now treat a wider range of patients

Laser permanently destroys hair-producing follicles under the surface of the skin. The laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin to the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle to destroy it so that hair can never grow there again. Here at our practice in Houston our laser machine is ideal for treating unwanted hair on all skin types’ even tanned or dark skin. It includes a cooling device which keeps the treated skin from becoming uncomfortable hot while the follicle is being heated with laser energy.

The treatment cause only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band. Slight redness or localized swelling can occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment

Every patient’s hair growth patterns are different, typically patients will see results in 3-6 treatments, thought this number will vary based upon skin tone, hair color and several other factors. Your doctor will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual results.

Laser hair removal has a wide-reaching age range, going from teens to seniors, but most patients are in their 20s and 30s.

Unfortunately, traditional hair removal routines can be tedious, painful and expensive over time. Shaving may last a day, waxing a couple pf weeks, but none of them last forever and therein lays the true beauty of laser hair removal.

Chiropractic Treatments in Houston

Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center offers a robust range of chiropractic treatments, led by Drs. Ginger Marshall, MaryBeth Asenime, and Thelma Cockrell.

Two of the most common problem areas for Houston chiropractic patients are back and neck pain, which can be caused by spinal alignment, muscle issues, nerves, or disc alignment. After performing a variety of tests, a treatment plan is determined.

Spinal chiropractic issues are usually treated with a form of spinal adjustment, manipulation, and re-alignment.

“Every patient is different,” said Dr. MaryBeth Asenime. “Based on the conditions, we evaluate the patient and determine the severity of the case.”

For muscle issues, physical therapy can be the answer.

“Our in-house physical therapy works to restore flexibility, mobility, and range of motion for our patients,” said Dr. Asenime.

Houston chiropractic patients can often attribute back and neck pain to causes such as an ill-fitting bed, poor sleeping habits, too much sitting, or incorrect form while exercising.

If a patient’s pain is acute, it may be necessary to have chiropractic treatments daily for up to a week to make life more tolerable. For others, after their issue has been addressed, Dr. Asenime. recommends a maintenance program of coming in month to ensure that the pain stays away.

“Patients continually need to be readjusted and realigned to avoid further problems,” she said. “We compare it to people getting their braces off, to keep your teeth looking perfect, you need to wear a retainer.”

Patients seeking chiropractors in the Houston area complain about a variety of issues, including pain in the back, neck, shoulders, wrists, plantar fascitis of the foot, jumper’s knee, runner’s knee, lateral (tennis elbow) or medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow), and sprained or strained ankles.

There are a variety of chiropractic treatments available at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center to alleviate these issues. Based on a patient’s needs and level of pain, physical therapy, myofascial release, electrical stimulation, stretching, rehabilitation, exercise, posture correction, acupuncture, cold laser treatments, spinal manipulation, spinal decompression, nutritional advice can be offered.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation, Laser Hair Removal, and Laser Vein Removal all popular options

We are now offering a variety of laser treatments at our medical spa in Houston.

We provide a variety of cosmetic procedures for our cosmetic surgery patients using our state of the art Elite laser, including the elimination of unsightly varicose veins and spider veins, laser skin rejuvenation on areas like the face, chest, and hands, reducing the appearance of age spots and sun spots, and laser hair removal.

The length of cosmetic laser treatment sessions can vary greatly, ranging from a few minutes to an hour. However, all laser treatment sessions can safely be performed as “lunchtime procedures,” meaning our patients can typically return to work or regular activities without much interference.

Varicose vein and spider vein treatments can take several treatments to be effective. Pain from this procedure is minimal, similar to the feeling of a rubber band snapping, with minor bruising that lasts only for a few days. The laser passes through the skin and breaks up any unwanted veins.

Laser skin rejuvenation is typically used on the face, chest, and hands. It is a very popular procedure for Houston medical spas because it has virtually no downtime, takes only a half hour, and gets amazing results. Several laser skin rejuvenation treatments can eliminate age spots and sun spots, soften and remove wrinkles, and stimulates collagen deep under the skin, which can make skin look smoother, softer, and healthier for months after the treatment.

Our Elite laser that has settings for both dark skin and light skin. It is important to visit well-trained, experienced professionals like ours for the safest, optimal results.

The Elite laser used is not as invasive as some other kinds, such as C02 or IPLs, which can cause a significant amount of downtime. Patients can put on makeup afterwards, and return to work and regular activities.

Last but not least, laser hair removal is very popular among patients because it is effective and safe. After a short consultation, where skin color, hair color, and age are all taken into consideration, a treatment plan can be drawn up. Several laser hair removal sessions are usually needed to permanently remove unwanted hair.

Get Juvederm, Restylane and more at our medical spa in Houston!

Our Houston-area cosmetic surgery patients have many choices of fillers here at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center.

We primarily offer fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, which consist mainly of hyaluronic acid.

We can also order any other filler on request, such as Sculptra, Radiesse, Perlane, Prevelle Silk, Evolence, or Artefill.

Dermal fillers
work differently than treatments like Botox or Dysport to lessen the appearance of aging. Rather than relaxing the muscles that create wrinkles, fillers like Restylane and Juvederm fill in areas to offset the loss of collagen and elastin in the facial tissues that occur over time.

Injectable fillers are usually injected into the nasolabial folds (aka smile lines), marionette lines (which extend from the corner of the mouth down), perioral vertical lines, on the border of the lips, or to plump them up, when injected, creates a smooth and natural look for patients without any noticeable scars or bruises.

No one will know you’ve had the treatment. You'll just get compliments on how great you look!

Unlike Botox, which can take a week or two to show its full results, the end result of Juvederm and Restylane injections are seen instantly. Read more about Botox here, as we've blogged about it previously.

Juvederm and Restylane can last up to one year.

A wide range of patients request cosmetic fillers, although most of Dr. Motamedy’s medical spa patients are in their 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s.

Injectable fillers like Juvederm and Restylane can also be used in conjunction with Botox injections for forehead wrinkles to make a liquid facelift, which can transform a patient's face in a mere half hour appointment.

For more information, please visit our website at www.marshallbackandbody.com or call 713-522-1726.

Botox is our most popular procedure in Houston

Here at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center in Houston, Texas, we're pleased to report that the most popular minimally invasive procedure at our Houston facility is Botox, an injectable wrinkle-reducing treatment made by Allergan.

Patients of all ages have various reasons for looking into Botox.

In addition to easing wrinkles temporarily, Botox can also be used to raise eyebrows in a natural way, helping to reshape a patient's face to give them a more youthful, alert looking appearance.

We've seen a rise recently in patients coming to Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center to prepare for summer vacations and events, and want to look their best.

Some of our patients in the Houston-area medical spa also seek Botox for the condition hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, for areas such as the palms of the hands, armpits, and feet.

Botox was approved by the FDA for cosmetic purposes in 2002 and causes little to no discomfort, and is performed with no downtime in as little as 15 minutes, with a miniscule chance of complications.

The effects of Botox last for approximately 3 months, which can increase after repeated injections.
