Laser Treatments for Spider and Varicose Veins available at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center in Houston

Leg and facial veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worst. Fortunately, with cosmetic laser treatment, you can make yourself look and feel a whole lot better with as little as only one or two visits.

Spider or varicose veins are usually red, blue or purple in color. They can be a result of sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, age or genetics. Varicose veins usually occur on the legs, while spider veins (technically known as telangiectasia) mostly occur around the nose, cheeks, and chin.

There are many treatments for varicose veins and spider veins in Houston. Here at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center, we offer laser treatments for varicose veins and spider veins.

In short, a cosmetic laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel will naturally disappear. To get more technical, we use the Elite laser system, where the laser energy is delivered via a device with a cooling tip, which helps provide additional comfort and safety during the procedure. The laser beam goes right through the skin and hits the targeted blood vessel, making it collapse and seal, and dissolve within the body. A side benefit is that the laser helps stimulate the production of collagen, which can result in smoother looking and feeling skin.

Like we said above, there typically only one or two treatments required and results can be seen in three to four weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. The treatment causes only minimal discomfort, and any redness or swelling should be gone within a day. After that the patient can resume normal activities immediately.

After the treatment, patients need to avoid the sun, using shade and wearing sunscreen whenever possible. For varicose veins, our patients also might have to wear supportive hose for some time to ensure proper healing.

The one caveat is that although we can use the Elite laser for permanent removal of our Houston patients' varicose and spider veins, we cannot prevent new ones from forming.

Although this treatment works well for many kinds of spider veins and varicose veins, it is still important to consult an experienced physician to make sure it is right for you. Visit www.marshallbackandbody.com or call 713-522-1726 for more information.

Laser Hair Removal in Houston

Laser hair removal has been one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in America for a long time, and is an affordable and low-risk option for patients who want to remove hair.

Over 700,000 women received laser hair removal treatments in 2009, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Women commonly have areas such as their legs, bikini area, underarms, upper lip and chin treated.

There were over 150,000 male laser hair removal patients in 2009, who mainly opted for treatments for their back and chest areas, as well as the scalp and beard.

Laser hair removal is a solution for permanent hair reduction that works on any area of the body where there is unwanted hair. Many patients choose it to permanently remove embarrassing growths of hair, or to simply save time on common shaving areas like their beard or legs.
Since its inception in the late 1980s, laser hair removal has become less painful and can now treat a wider range of patients

Laser permanently destroys hair-producing follicles under the surface of the skin. The laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin to the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle to destroy it so that hair can never grow there again. Here at our practice in Houston our laser machine is ideal for treating unwanted hair on all skin types’ even tanned or dark skin. It includes a cooling device which keeps the treated skin from becoming uncomfortable hot while the follicle is being heated with laser energy.

The treatment cause only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band. Slight redness or localized swelling can occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment

Every patient’s hair growth patterns are different, typically patients will see results in 3-6 treatments, thought this number will vary based upon skin tone, hair color and several other factors. Your doctor will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual results.

Laser hair removal has a wide-reaching age range, going from teens to seniors, but most patients are in their 20s and 30s.

Unfortunately, traditional hair removal routines can be tedious, painful and expensive over time. Shaving may last a day, waxing a couple pf weeks, but none of them last forever and therein lays the true beauty of laser hair removal.

Chiropractic Treatments in Houston

Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center offers a robust range of chiropractic treatments, led by Drs. Ginger Marshall, MaryBeth Asenime, and Thelma Cockrell.

Two of the most common problem areas for Houston chiropractic patients are back and neck pain, which can be caused by spinal alignment, muscle issues, nerves, or disc alignment. After performing a variety of tests, a treatment plan is determined.

Spinal chiropractic issues are usually treated with a form of spinal adjustment, manipulation, and re-alignment.

“Every patient is different,” said Dr. MaryBeth Asenime. “Based on the conditions, we evaluate the patient and determine the severity of the case.”

For muscle issues, physical therapy can be the answer.

“Our in-house physical therapy works to restore flexibility, mobility, and range of motion for our patients,” said Dr. Asenime.

Houston chiropractic patients can often attribute back and neck pain to causes such as an ill-fitting bed, poor sleeping habits, too much sitting, or incorrect form while exercising.

If a patient’s pain is acute, it may be necessary to have chiropractic treatments daily for up to a week to make life more tolerable. For others, after their issue has been addressed, Dr. Asenime. recommends a maintenance program of coming in month to ensure that the pain stays away.

“Patients continually need to be readjusted and realigned to avoid further problems,” she said. “We compare it to people getting their braces off, to keep your teeth looking perfect, you need to wear a retainer.”

Patients seeking chiropractors in the Houston area complain about a variety of issues, including pain in the back, neck, shoulders, wrists, plantar fascitis of the foot, jumper’s knee, runner’s knee, lateral (tennis elbow) or medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow), and sprained or strained ankles.

There are a variety of chiropractic treatments available at Marshall Back and Body Wellness Center to alleviate these issues. Based on a patient’s needs and level of pain, physical therapy, myofascial release, electrical stimulation, stretching, rehabilitation, exercise, posture correction, acupuncture, cold laser treatments, spinal manipulation, spinal decompression, nutritional advice can be offered.
